Cape Town has to have the most picturesque setting of all the cities that I've visited, where ever you are in the city you can see Table Mountain.
I made my way out to Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela spend some of his time when he was imprisoned by the South African government. It's a very interesting place, but not a place I'd want to stay for a long time. My guide was an ex-inmate of the island, and he told a story about how one of the political prisoners had been separated from the rest, but yet still seemed to be in contact with his colleagues.
This was achieved by some very bad tennis - the ball kept been hit over the wall where the solitary prisoner was, and he kept throwing back - with a message pushed inside it!
If you need somewhere to stay, may I suggest the Blackheath Lodge - it's a great place!
