New York, New York so good they named it twice, and you know what - they were right! I spent four days in New York, and it wasn't until I got home did I appreciate what a truly great city it is. The people are friendly, it's easy to get around, and there are some great things to see!
I did all the tourist things! I took the boat over to the Statute of Liberty, got some great views looking back across towards lower Manhattan, and even managed to get inside the statue to see the internals - but no one is allowed up the spiral staircase to the very top (it takes three hours, so I doubt if I'd do it even if I could!!)
Then I took a look at the UN building, and got a tour of all the council chambers - but I didn't get a stamp in my passport even though I'd left the USA!
I took a boat ride all around Manhattan Island - and boy is it large! it really is the only way to get to see the city!
But the BEST bit has to be the top of the Empire State Building - I got up early and was at the head of the queue. the views from the top are just breathtaking - you can see everything that NY has to offer. The next time I visit, I'll go up at night - that must be magical!
