2006 was a special year for me and the madness that is Countrybagging - I'd been doing this travel thing for 10 years.
The first foreign countries I visited were Russia and Ukraine back in 1996, talk about in at the deep end! There were visas to organise, Hotels and trains to book and all before the world wide web had taken off! But it was a great learning experience, and I've always said that if I could handle that, I can handle anything that travel has to throw at me!
So, as a tenth anniversary present (to myself) I took a little tour around the Arabian Peninsula, and visited Yemen, Qatar and Kuwait - the three letters I just happened to need to finish of the Alphabet of Countries!
Well, okay almost - there's that tricky letter X. There isn't a country that starts with X (the Chinese name for Tibet starts with an X, but I'm waiting for the Chinese to open up the railway to Lhasa before I head off to Tibet).
So, what's in store for the eleventh year?
I'm planning another around the world extravaganza, more details later in the year. I'm hoping to do some islands this year - the Isles of Scilly, Isle of Man that sort of thing.
Of course then there's always the Russian Alphabet
