The biggest city in Qatar is Doha, and that's where I was based, but I did make out of the city, by taking a desert safari. This took the form of five other tourist, a driver and a Toyota Land Cruiser!
What our driver could get this two tonne vehicle to do was amazing. There was one dune that curved around a corner, and at one point we seemed to be doing a "wall of death" around that curve! There were plenty of screams inside the Land Cruiser!
We were taken to a campsite in the desert but next to the gulf shore, and had a fabulous dinner, in a Bedouin tent, under the stars.
All too soon it was time to head back into Doha, luckily the drive back through the desert in the dark wasn't as "rough" as the way into it!
The one question you are asked everywhere in Qatar is "where are you from?", this is due to fact that the country is populated by people from everywhere in the world. I'd never met anyone from Nepal, but in two days I managed to meet three in Doha!
