My main memory of Portugal is punctures! I managed to get two punctures in Portugal. The first was on a track just outside Sintra. I put on the "space saver" and drove into Sintra to try and get it fixed - however the damage was so bad they couldn't fix it, and they didn't have a tyre that would fit the rim.
Driving on a space saver is no fun, so I got them to put a tube on the tyre (even though' you are not supposed to) and started to drive home slowly - I stopped every few miles to check the pressure and temperature. Unfortunately I hit a pot hole, which split another tyre, and dented the rim - at that point I gave up and called Green Flag and got them to recover me back to England!
