Day 1 - Fri 16 Dec 2011
Bus down to the train station and then the train down to London. Taxi
over to Paddington, with a very chatty driver. Caught the Heathrow
Express to T1/3, and then waited for the shuttle over to T4. Korean
Air business class check in is around the corner from the main set of
desks. No queue, so was checked in within a matter of moments. The
woman behind the desk asked twice if I had anything to check-in. Travelling light has its advantages.
I had a quick look at the lounge, it's the same one that Qatar Air
use, and that I'd visited on my way to Tibet earlier in the year. Took a
shower before heading to the gate.
Climbed aboard, and when upstairs in the 747 to find 21c, it's the
last row of the small section upstairs, and is quite a pleasent
environment. Next to me is an Australian who is heading back from his
job in Iceland to get married in Brisbane. It's obviously the season
for weddings in the southern hemisphere. He's had an eight hour wait
in Heathrow since his flight from Iceland, and he's going to have a
three hour stop over in Seoul before the next leg of the trip. Not my
idea of fun.
