Day 1 Fri 20 June 2003
Up early (04:30), and on the road by 5am, got to Heathrow by 6am, but took ages to check in due to the huge queues. Flight was okay - chatted to a nice lady who had travelled almost as much as I have. Got the bus from the airport no problem. First stop was the hotel, a good sized room with views over the main drag.
Down town straight away to the tourist info place; booked the Tallinn trip for tomorrow, but found out later that I got ripped off for a "booking fee" of 11 - should have done it direct with the ferry company! Anyway, exchanged the voucher for a real ticket and checked out where I need to go for tomorrow.
In the evening walked up to the local park/open air museum for the mid-summer party - Lots of local crafts, and the chosen wedding couple (it's THE time of year to get married) setting fire to the beachside bonfire.
Strolled back to the hotel at midnight (in the daylight), and had a 'Lapin Kulta' larger in the hotel bar.
